AI Policy

How AI helps us put the shelf together, and how to read what you find here.

Where we use AI

AI tools help us research public program information, organize listings, draft resource summaries, and create parts of the site's design and imagery. CatechistShelf is a project of Cordial Labs, led by Edmund Mitchell, who is responsible for what we publish.

Sources come with the listing

Each resource includes a source link and the date its listing was last updated. Short summaries describe the resource using the catalog's information. When a detail has not been confirmed, the listing identifies it as unknown.

AI can misread a source, miss context, or summarize something incorrectly. Follow the source links and confirm important details directly with the publisher before making a decision. See how we list programs for more about our method.

Illustrative imagery

Some imagery on this site is AI-generated. These images help illustrate the site's themes; they are not photographs documenting a particular program, parish, publisher, or participant.

Independence and responsibility

AI assistance does not change our listing rules. Sponsored placements are labeled, and sponsorship does not determine the order of resources or which ones appear in your filters. Listings do not certify that a program meets your parish's or diocese's requirements.

Personal information

This directory's AI-assisted research and design work is separate from the newsletter signup experience. Our Privacy Policy describes the information collected through newsletter signup and how it is used.

Policy updates

As our use of AI develops, changes to this policy will appear here with an updated date.
